Installing a font in LaTeX is something of a black art. The instructions below work on my Linux installation; I hope that they will work with minimal modification on your installation, or that I'll be able to derive a more coherant explanation of the steps you'll need to take to install the font. Files in this package: README this file starfont.sty goes where style files go; in the same directory as your document seems to work starfont.map goes in /usr/share/texmf/dvips/misc/ starfont.tex documentation for how to use the package (need to install the package first before you can run this!) starfont.pdf documentation pre-generated to avoid chicken and egg problem table.pdf encoding table for the font Files CTAN can't distribute: starfont.afm goes in /usr/share/texmf/fonts/afm/public/starfont/ starfont.pfb goes in /usr/share/texmf/fonts/type1/public/starfont/ STRFNSAN.TTF original TrueType file, not needed but useful for reference Read the documentation in starfont.tex or starfont.pdf for information on the missing files. After putting the files in the appropriate directories, must run mktexlsr to put them in the kpathsea database. Also add this line to /usr/share/texmf/web2c/updmap.cfg: Map starfont.map and then run updmap. I *think* that those steps suffice to make the font accessible to documents that include starfont.sty. This package is released to the public domain as far as my own contributions are concerned. The font itself is believed to be released for free use by its creator, Anthony I.P. Owen, but that could not be verified definitively and so the font is not included in the CTAN package. Users must obtain it, and licensing for it, separately.
